Why Bee Bee???

I was told that your "Canned Ham" must have a name. So I knew right away that her name would be Bee Bee. When I got her (bought her from pictures off of e-bay and a couple of phone conversations with the prior owner, sight unseen) I saw for the 1st time, that she has about 40 dimples (have yet to count them) on the curb-side lower exterior front pannel. Looks like some kids took some pot shots at the old girl or the Deer got away from some city hunters. When I picked her up the prior owner stated that I could replace the pannel ---- but they are just cute little dimples in the skin (no through and through) and I think this is part of her "over 50 year" character and patina. So I will keep her original "Bee Bee" pannel intact (maybe count them when I get a chance). I will let folks know that the Bee Bee shots that she carries are the inspriation and root of her name. This blog is dedicated to sharing Bee Bee's travels, memories and restoration activity as we camp in her throughout this great country and throughout the years.

Woodstock Fall Hootananny

The second annual Woodstock Hootanany was a big hit. Planned a little later in the year to avoid the rain, we got together the weekend of October 8-11 to have fun and chit chat with our neighbors. This year we avoided the rain for the most part but did have a little Saturday afternoon SNOW fluries. We were not detoured and had a great coctail/apetizer trailer tour on Friday night with a little kareokee singing to top it off and on Saturday we had a great pot luck dinner and evening bonfire (thanks to Kimberly's Truck and Lukes firewood connections), who knew tomato sticks could generate that much heat. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment:

Next year we are going to try a May Spring Woodstock Rally (trying to avoid the snow and the rain of fall).

Lake Shelbyville & the King of Queens

Yes, the weekend of October 16-18 was a great way to end the season. Donna and Mark Bowlby hosted a great fall get together complete with a scavenger hunt and trick or treating for the kids, pot luck dinnner and breakfast to go, but the icing on the cake were the men involved in the King of Queens contest. Ten brave soles strutted their stuff and the winner with the wardrobe malfunction that would make Janet Jackson proud was Roger the Brazillian Bombshell. This will be an event to plan for next year (the Lake Shelbyville campground was the best I have been at in a long time). Here are some pictures to share with all:

See you next Year.

Montello Vintage Trailer Rally

9.21.09 This past weekend we had a blast in Montello, Wisconsin. Scrappy, Sven and I had a great time with some neat vintage trailer folks in Wisconsin. We had some fantastic burgers, a great pot luck dinner, evening trailer cartoons and the always fun progressive coctail party. Saturdays Show and Shine was a big success and the weather was perfect. Here are some of the trailers and their owners that participated in the Midwest Vintage Trailer Rally.

Woodstock Revival Bands Aug. 14-15 2009

Bee Bee went to the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock with a weekend of Revival Bands at Galt Airport. Music included Jimmy Hendrix, Credence Clear Water Revival, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker and others. We had a Tie Dyed Groovy Peace and Love time and very little sleep in a fun packed weekend (the Jungle Juice and second hand smoke did not hurt the experiance). This link shares some of the memories:

Rock Falls, IL

Fun was had by all in Rock Falls, July 9-12, at Randy's - the local RV Dealership with scenic views overlooking the Soybean fields. We had a great time exploring the city and enjoying the company of our fellow vintage campers. Kind of neat were the evening fireflies all over the bean fields ---- very pretty. Memorable moments included the Cheesy Poof contest, the evening bonfires, the pot luck feast and a dog smaller than Scrappy "Precious Perfect Princess Teadybear". The show and shine brought a lot of folks around to chit chat and John swears the Kimster overserved him during the Progressive coctail hour event. Here is a link to some of the pictures of the Rally:

Sullivan Lake - Indiana

6-11/12/13/14-09 BeeBee just completed her 1st vintage trailer rally of the season. Thanks to all the hard work of Roger and Erin / Dan and Jan. We had a great time talking with our fellow vintage campers, exploring the town of Sullivan and enjoying the entertainment from "I Never" to the Saturday night Elvis concert. What a hoot! John, Gabby, Alex, Scrappy and I had a blast. Link to pictures - http://indianarallyphotos.blogspot.com/

Mark and Pattie's Rock Jam & Pig Party

6-7-09 Had a great time at Mark and Pattie's Saturday night Rock jam --- what a remarkable spread. Next time I think I will have to buy tickets on Ticketmaster. We even got in a little eucher card playing after the concert while mom slept through the whole thing tucked away in the canned ham. Unforgetable moment - Dawn falling on top of me when the hammock (not properly anchored - my bad) fell down with Dawn in it.
